Dr. Rosalyn Regina Nichols

Dr. Nichols is a woman who loves God with a burning desire to help the people of God to live in light of the promises of God.

Dr. Nichols is a native of Memphis, TN and proud to have graduated with honors from the historic Booker T. Washington High School and LeMoyne Owen College. In May 1996 having responded to God's calling upon her life, Dr. Nichols graduated summa cum laude from the Memphis Theological Seminary, in 2004 she received her Doctor of Ministry degree from the historically black Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA.

Early in her ministry, following the death of childhood friend as a result of relation-ship/domestic violence, in 1998 Dr. Nichols organized the nonprofit A More Ex-cellent Way, Inc. (AWay) with a mission to help individual from all walks of life to enter into, engage in and maintain spiritually healthy relationship toward the elimi-nation of relationship violence. Through AWay, Dr. Nichols has been committed to raising awareness, conducting workshops, conferences, facilitating groups, churches and faith communities in intimate interpersonal relationship development.

On Sat., October 15, 2011 AWay is scheduled to host its Annual Sisters4Life 5K Walk/Run and Love for Life Weekend against relationship/domestic violence. Through AWay, Inc. Dr. Nichols travels nationally preaching and teaching the message of 1 John 4.18, there is no fear in love, there is a more excellent way to live.

In 2001 Dr. Nichols along with a faithful group organized Freedom's Chapel Christian Church (DOC). The Freedom's Chapel family believes John 8.36, "So if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed." We bring this to life through an under-standing that our freedom is not an opportunity for self indulgence, but rather to love and serve one another and the greater community. Each Sunday we affirm our commit to being a church where all are welcomed, accessible, nurtured, edified, loved and acknowledged and where God in Jesus Christ is praised! Now headed into its 10th year Freedom's Chapel looks for to a bright future as both pastor and people continue to grow in the grace of God.

Dr. Nichols has travelled extensively both nationally and internationally. She had the privilege as the first ordained clergy woman to serve as visiting professor at the Gweru Baptist Theological Seminary in Gweru, Zimbabwe South Af-rica. As a member of the New Church Ministry with the Disciples she travelled with a group of church planters through-out the provinces of China, and in 2008 participated in a renewal pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

Dr. Nichols has received numerous awards including the Memphis Community Leader Award, the Visionaries Trail-blazer award and the Henry Logan Starks Alumni Award from Memphis Theological Seminary. She is a Memphis Leader-ship Graduate, a lifetime member of the NAACP and a member of the Beta Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Al-pha Sorority, Incorporated.

Dr. Nichols is a dynamic, passionate, empathetic preacher, teacher, and pastor who believes that freedom in Christ gives one the liberty to live and the responsibility to serve. Her favorite pastimes include traveling around the world and stay-ing physically active with two fury babes Roscoe and LadyBug.
